A two-vehicle crash on Sunday morning, October 25, 2026, sent one car off the road and into a home in Fort Lauderdale, and one woman was hospitalized, according to Fort Lauderdale police. The crash happened in the 1300 block of Northwest Third Avenue, near Northwest 13th Street.

Police said one vehicle left the roadway after being struck, hit a tree near the home, and damaged the house. Video from the scene showed a hole in the side of the home and substantial front-end damage to both cars, with debris scattered across the road. The home’s damage was described as minor. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue took one woman to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police have not released what caused the collision, and no names of the people involved were released. Neighbors told reporters that speeding on the street has been a longstanding concern, and the owner of the damaged home told reporters this was not the first time the property had needed repairs after a crash. Those comments are neighbors’ concerns, not a police finding about the cause of this crash, which remains under investigation. When a Crash Leaves the Road, Protect the Record Early

A crash that sends a vehicle into a yard or a home creates more than a traffic claim. There may be an injured driver or passenger, damage to a house, and questions for tenants who live there. If you are involved and you are able, call 911, accept medical evaluation at the scene, and ask how to obtain the police report. Photograph the vehicles, the roadway, the tree and building damage, and any debris field before vehicles are moved or repairs begin, if it is safe to do so.

Nearby homes and businesses may have doorbell or surveillance video that shows how the vehicles were moving before impact. That video can be overwritten quickly, so asking early for it to be saved matters. Keep the crash report, medical records, tow and repair paperwork, and every insurance letter together in one file.

Medical Care, Property Damage, and Fault in Florida

Get medical care promptly, even if you feel only sore at first. Florida personal injury protection, often called PIP, can pay a portion of medical bills and lost wages regardless of fault, but treatment generally must begin within 14 days for PIP benefits to apply. A homeowner or tenant whose property was struck may also have a separate property-damage claim for repairs and related losses, which should be documented with photos and estimates before cleanup changes the scene.

Florida follows modified comparative negligence: a recovery is reduced by the claimant’s percentage of fault, and it is barred entirely if the claimant is found more than 50% at fault. Early news reports are not a final decision about fault. Be cautious about giving a recorded statement to another driver’s insurer before you understand how it may be used, and do not assume the first explanation of the crash is the complete one.
